Determination and Perseverance

Tenacity was created in 2015 to honour the quiet strength of South Australia’s oldest vineyards, and the growers who care for them.

The name Tenacity speaks to the character of the vine. Through heat, wind, drought and changing seasons, old vineyards find a way. In Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale, some have endured since the 1840s: deeply rooted, resilient and still capable of producing fruit of remarkable character.

Made by second generation winemaker & vigneron Jett de Ruiter, Tenacity brings together parcels from these two celebrated regions in an approachable softer wine style. The wines are made with traditional care, beginning with the crush of the fruit and followed by maturation in French oak barrels. Individual parcels are then blended to create balance, generosity and a sense of place.

7-10 days on skins, 2-3 gentle pump overs a day, before being basket pressed to French oak barrels where it remains for the next 12 months before meticulous blending"
