2024 Reserve Shiraz
Tenacity represents the determination and perseverance of the old vines that have
endured in our landscape over decades.
Our 2024 Tenacity Reserve Shiraz is from old vine Shiraz vines in the premium growing region of Barossa Valley. Australia holds the largest plantings of old vine Shiraz, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre in the world.
The survival and stamina of these rare old vine assets are thanks in large part to the special sites on which they grow, many of them historic in their own right. They’re also a testament to the generations of dedicated winemaking families who have long cultivated and cared for them. Our wine possesses a complexity that can only be gained from old vines.
COLOUR: Deep brooding purple to black in colour.
AROMA: Lifted and very intense aromas, giving way slowly to notes of bay leaf, dark berries, liquorice, cassis and violet and plum.
PALATE: The palate is rich, powerful and penetrating with complexing notes of spiced, dark fruits and liquorish weave through the finish. It is defined, proud and succulent.
WINEMAKING: The parcels of fruit were crushed into and fermented in three, five, seven and 10 tonne open top vessels. Regular pump overs three times daily were performed during the peak of fermentation to extract flavours, colour and tannins. At pressing, the free run and pressings were combined to tank, then racked to barrel for oak maturation where malolactic fermentation occurred. All batches were kept separate and blended just prior to bottling.
MATURATION: Matured for 12 months in French oak, 18% new, and the remainder in one to six year old puncheons and hogsheads.
CELLAR POTENTIAL: 5-10 years, under optimal cellaring conditions.
